Appropriate age for a cell phone?

Phillip Modafferi: 2

Branden Round: When they are old enough to pay for it.

Rickey Vrieze: It has its pros and cons.Pros1. A cell phone is new age technology. Sooner or later she'll probably have a cell phone and so "getting with the program" is something that she'll need to do. Whether it's later or now.2. A cell phone can assure you that your daughter can contact you anytime, anywhere. If she's lost, needs a ride, has an emergency and needs to call you right away. There are several reasons. Cell phones really can save lives.Cons1. If you get her a cell phone, make sure she does not become dependent/addicted to her phone. Texting 24/7, constantly on the phone for reasons that are unnecessary. That is definitely a problem with children.2. She could be doing things behind your back on her phone. If you decide to purchase her a phone, make sure you explain to her what's appropriate and not appropriate. Yes, she needs her privacy but you also need to assure that ! her behavior doesn't become inappropriate with friends, boys, etc.I honestly would say the appropriate age would be when you start letting your daughter go out to places like the mall or movies with her friends. Basically, if she has a life of her own. 12, 13, 14. Somewhere along there. That way, she has a cell phone and can contact you. You can check up on her and you know that if she gets separated, she can call her friends and find them and if necessary, call you. Even though there are reasons not to get your child a phone (at younger ages), it can also assure her more safety. Like I said, cell phones can save lives....Show more

Son Ahlers: Depends on her personality. If she has slutty tendencies, she's better of without it. A cellphone may seem like a normal accessory, but it also comes with a price, being mature enough in using it.

Darcie Peraha: i imagine it relies upon on the guy receiving the cellular telephone. in the journey that they are responsible a! dequate, then having a cellular telephone at a youthful age do! es not be a project. also, you need to set regulations so that they does not abuse it like by texting or calling too a lot. i in my opinion, were given my first cellular telephone at the same time as i change into like 9 or 10. yet it really is more advantageous many times than not because my mom lived overseas and it change into ordinary for us to communicate merely by texting one yet another anytime....Show more

Spencer Heidtbrink: Every child & family are different. Our family rule is 14 & involved in an extracurricular activity...
