Pamela Meno: Wii U IS the handheld gamming system. You may as well ask is you can by something to eat withouf buying food.
Shan Lanen: The Wii U Game Pad (what you called the handheld gaming system) is not a handheld gaming system. Its the controller for the Wii U.As far as buying it without one, should be possible but not a new one since again its the controller. People on eBay, etc likely would sell it that way.
Marty Tichnell: Sure, you can buy it that way, but you're only buying half a system and you won't be able to use it. The initial config requires the GamePad.That GamePad is part of the system. Depending on the game, you may not need it, but it is required for set up.
Tricia Dossous: You're going to die one day
Damaris Weiler: Can you buy one without the touchscreen controller? Sure, just search for used ones. Now ask if there's any point in owning a Wii U without a touchscreen controller. Sure. If all your doing is playing original Wii! games on it. As for Wii U too many games implement and require the touchscreen controller.
Chris Wilczewski: Yes
Hwa Waterford: Why would you wanna do that? The handheld is awesome thou a little too big. What if can do makes up for it. You can download old school games and play it on the screen and it has a lot of gameplay functionality that use to take up tv space or was hard to see such as maps and mini games,
Zelma Casebier: I'd rather pay less and just use a basic controller. Do they not sell them like this?
