Gordon Showes: fengshuiand commoon sense!
Monroe Rainey: Okay start with a trip to the bookstore with hubby by your side and start sifting through magazines and notate what styles, lines, colors , textures, and prints you both gravitate towards. But be real casual and relaxed it shouldn't be hard, it should come naturally and if it becomes difficult you're over thinking it. Also remember that you can take your time don't let yourself feel rushed or pressured by a salesperson. You can be sparse with you're apartment furniture until you figure things out. A few rules to remember things don't have to match they have to go with each other so you don't have to buy an entire collection you can mix and match styles. Also keep long term goals for a room in mind like if kids are in your future don't buy a white sofa and glass accent pieces . And one last thought accessories can come later esp. if you're on a budget its better to invest in fewer quality furniture pieces than! pieces that are poorer quality with more pillows and vases and such. Good luck and remember to have fun with it!...Show more
Lyndon Mattas: OK, everyone has a personal style, but you have to develop yours. Don't be afraid. How you should start is make a list of your favorite colors. Also go to the paint store and see color trends too. Go to furniture stores and look at furniture and see what you are drawn to. Go to Home Depot and look at kitchens, lighting fixtures, carpeting, tile, wood flooring. Then go to HGTV.com and browse the site completely you will see rooms, colors, and instructions on how to start decorating. Also go to Waverly.com to see fabric, and rooms all done up. Also do a search: "How to decorate my home". You will see that alot of instruction will come up for you to look and study. Buy some magazines too. Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart, House Beautiful. El Decor. All these magazines give helpful hints. If need be, if you are! going to buy furniture, every furniture store has decorators ! on staff that will help you coordinate and decorate our home when you buy furniture there. I would start with one room at a time, otherwise you will be confused. I would start with the living room first. There is alot of help out there, you just have to know where to look. Also ivillage.com is good and informative. Oh another thing you should do, go to northcarolinafurniture.com. Here they will give you links of furniture stores down south and photos and rooms where you could see many rooms and furniture and you may get an idea what you like. I wish you luck. If I lived near you I would volunteer my decorating skills to you, as I am a part time interior decorator. Best of Luck...Show more
Danette Slotnick: Take you time. I spent money on stuff because I got the first things I liked, and then realized there were things I liked better that cost less. Furnature can vary greatly in prices so just start going in and looking. Do lots of looking at different furnat! ure stores. Get on their mailing lists and look at flyers. Really... take your time, once you buy anything you will be looking at it for a long time.
Tosha Tawney: Start checking out your local consignment shops for something special you would like as a vocal point in a room. Do one room at a time. What are you and your husbands interest's? For instance, my husband and I are into fishing. We live on a canal. So my living area is nautical. Fish Nets, Shells, Oars (you get the drift). What do you enjoy for sports? As for your Kitchen. Do you like to cook? Country Kitchens are cool. You can find so many cool kitchen gadgets at thrift shops and consignment shops. Hang them all over the place. Hanging wicker is cool too. Start looking threw home magazines. And take time to watch some of the decorating shows, like Trading Places or While you were out. Be creative and have fun with it. Good Luck!...Show more
Burt Cheevers: I suspect it has quite a lot of names relyi! ng on who is making an attempt to advertise and promote it, and the pos! ition. It might be referred to as Primitive, neo-Primitive, Island Time, and so forth. and so forth, and so forth. A satisfactory appear for someone who enjoys it as I do. I suspect Mediteranian would not precisely are compatible, seeing that tribal extra shows the Continent of Africa, or South America. Steven Wolf
