Robt Betker: If you do not have work related references, from previous jobs, then make a list of personal references who speak of your character and how long they have known you. This is about the only thing you can do about references when you first start out. It is important to let the prospective employer know that you are efficient, detail-oriented, good with people, want to make the best impression for the company you work for and that you have enthusiasm for work and can handle challenges thrown your way. Bettye Arre: It is not common to include references â" or even mention of references â" on a resume. Potential employers will simply assume you can provide references should they be requested. Attached is some more detailed information. Generally speaking, if you are applying for retail / service positions at c! ompanies like Chapters, they will require you to fill out an application.
